Education is Key

Education is important for any nation. If we want to develop our economy to overcome poverty, we have to improve the skills and capacity of our people.

Admission

Admission for Grade 8 learners opens in May and closes in June. Applicants are informed of the outcome in August. According to the directives of the provincial Department of Basic Education and Sport Development, Sol Plaatje Primary School is our main feeder primary school. Admission for Grades 9 to 11 is considered in last weeks of the last term (November/December), considering the school’s capacity, resources and failure/pass rate in these Grades. According to the directives of the provincial Department of Basic Education and Sport Development, preference is given to the learners in the immediate vicinity of the school, in terms of geographical location and schooling.

Our curriculum is diverse and considers learners’ needs. Unlike many schools our streams (subject groupings) are not fixed or predetermined for learners. Learners are afforded the opportunity to choose subjects combinations in Grade 10. Streams are determined after the learners have chosen their subject groupings. As per policy of the Department of Basic Education, learners are allowed to change subjects when they do not do as well as they had expected.
