About Us

Sol Plaatje is one of the most prestigious schools in Mahikeng in North West Province, South Africa. We offer a diverse curriculum that enables learners to take that first step towards their dream career. The school is characterized by discipline and order, with learners and educators focusing on the business of school – teaching and learning.
We insist on excellence and strive to create an environment where all learners can explore and develop their potential to the fullest in academics, sports, and arts. We are inspired by our learners’ high expectations of themselves and their commendable achievements in various aspects of our curriculum.

The school started as an initiative of the SGB (School Governing Body) of Sol Plaatje Primary School, under the chairmanship of Mr J. King and the principal, Dr Bremner in 2002. Most of the first learners were former learners of Sol Plaatje Primary School who had left Mahikeng as there was no suitable English Medium secondary school in the area.

From a small school of no more than 400 learners, the school now enrols close to 900 learners.
